Editors Victoria publishes an online directory of freelance editors known as the Freelance Register. The Register helps organisations improve the standard of their publications by putting them in touch with editors who have the necessary skills and experience. The Register is used by hundreds of corporations, government departments and agencies, and non-government organisations, as well as publishers.
Those listed in the Register are full members of Editors Victoria, who have provided information about themselves. Editors Victoria publishes this information in good faith and with due care, but cannot offer recommendations or give any guarantee that a particular editor is suitable for a particular task. We encourage all organisations and individuals to look for an editor with appropriate skills and experience for the work, and to ask for examples of previous work and references.
Some members of Editors Victoria are Accredited Editors (AE) or Distinguished Editors (DE), marked with a star. Accredited Editors have demonstrated their professional competence and understanding of editing standards, skills and knowledge by passing the Institute of Professional Editors accreditation exam. For more about accreditation, see the IPEd website.
The Institute of Professional Editors has launched a new Editors Directory and all members of IPEd who have a freelance register entry on their branch websites also have an entry in the Editors Directory.
Please visit the Editors Directory to find a freelance editor with the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience for your assignment. When searching through the directory, you are encouraged to use the search function which allows you to search for an editor based on specific criteria.
The Editors Directory will be reviewed in June 2017, following which the Editors Victoria Freelance Register will close.
