Welcome to 2014. This promises to be another very busy year for Editors Victoria, and we need your help! If you'd like to join the committee or take on the paid role of Administration Officer, we'd love to hear from you. There are full details in this newsletter.

At the end of 2013, members of the seven societies of editors voted in favour of direct membership of a new national organisation. A working party is now developing detailed plans and policies to make that happen. We will keep you updated, and you will be asked to vote again later this year on whether or not to participate in that process.

Locally, our Freelance Register is now online. Remember to check your entry and let us know if it needs to be amended.

Our new mentoring program is also about to get up and running. If you are interested in sharing your skills and experience by being a mentor, or putting your hand up to be mentored, please get in touch with our Mentorship Officer.

Many of our members will also be studying feverishly for the IPEd accreditation exam on 3 May. If you are already an Accredited Editor and have any tips on how to prepare or pass the exam, please email us. We will publish all of your advice in our April issue.

And finally, we'd really like to hear about what your plans for the year are. If you are working on a great project or have landed an exciting new job please get in touch and let us spread the news. We're hoping to showcase some of our members this year, so don't be shy.

Your eds,

Lorna Hendry and Kate Goldsworthy
