A Shoe-in: Women Crime Writers Seize the Scarlet Stiletto

Dinner Meeting Report, 13 February 2014

It's a fabulous icon and prize - a scarlet stiletto standing tall (oh, so tall!) on its own mount. And beyond the sassy image, the Scarlet Stiletto also provides an opportunity for the winners of these generous short story awards to stand tall with pride. Gaining a place in the awards has given those women confidence; winning the award has launched the careers of many.

IPEd exam - Don't Panic!!!

Are you still undecided about sitting the IPEd accreditation exam? Are you frozen with indecision? Haven't even attempted a sample exam yet? Our workshop on 20 March will help you settle your nerves and come to a decision.

Susannah in New York

Susannah Chambers, the 2013/14 Beatrice Davis Fellowship winner, is currently in New York. She's hanging out at Little, Brown and Knopf/Random House (as you do when you are in NYC), and talking to editors, publishers, agents and authors. Her mission is to 'examine young adult editing and publishing at a time of fascinating growth and transition'.

Are you just starting out as an editor? Do you have questions that you'd like to ask someone with a bit more experience and knowledge? Ask away! We'll pass on your query to one of our fabulous and generous editors for some considered and wise advice.

National Mentoring Program

Update from the Canberra Society of Editors

On Wednesday 5 February, we held our first workshop for mentors and prospective mentors, so that was a red letter day in our program's development. More on that later.
