Meet Some More Committee Members

Sally Holdsworth is a new committee member to Editors Victoria. She has over 20 years’ experience in senior corporate roles and now provides business consulting and communication services for small to medium-sized enterprises and not-for-profit organisations. She is completing the Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT. Sally is in the communications subcommittee.

Maryna Mews is currently the Editors Victoria Membership Officer. She has been a freelance editor and indexer since 1998 and specialises in scholarly publishing. In a past life she was a librarian and also worked in TV and radio as a researcher. Being semi-retired, working as a freelancer enables her to travel with her husband who is an academic. She can also indulge in her passion for meditation, languages and singing.

Alexis Kelly recently began editing full-time at the Department of Justice and Regulation, after working in cultural and environmental policy for the Australian Government. She enjoyed studying a Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing (Editing) at the University of Canberra. The most satisfying parts of her role are cutting down briefings and working with colleagues to clarify technical details and jargon. Alexis is on the membership subcommittee.

After more than a decade as a biomedical research scientist, Davina Dadley-Moore swapped her pipette for a pen. For the next seven years, she worked with top scientists to illuminate their findings, as an editor at Nature, Nature Reviews and the Trends journals in London. Since returning home to Melbourne, she has worked as a freelance science and medical editor and trained researchers in the craft of science writing. This year, she is on 'sabbatical': working two in-house editorial and product management roles, at Nature Publishing Group and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. Davina is vice-president and professional development officer.
