Editors lunching at the Fitz, and not talking about apostrophes. Photo: Susan Pierotti

Around 20 enthusiastic editors ignored the grey cold day to meet in the Fitz Cafe on 25 September. It was good to see the mix of more established editors, new attendees and people we haven’t seen for a while. Over delicious food and coffees, talk flowed freely, with topics ranging from academic editing (just how much help should you give a student whose native language isn’t English?) to family and oral history, internships and the upcoming conference next year.

If you haven’t been to one of our freelance lunches, do consider coming. As one person said, we don’t talk about commas and apostrophes all the time (never, actually!) but bounce ideas off one another and learn from each other’s life experiences.

The last freelance lunch of the year will be towards the end of November. Stay tuned!
